Who are we?
Hi, I'm Paul. I am the producer and creative vision behind Worldsheet Films. I have spent many years working in the entertainment industry, working for games companies and making independent computer games. Working with artists, to bring products together, and create results. There are many parallels between designing computer games and creating a good film; sound design, colour knowledge, pacing, story, to name but a few.
Now I'm bringing this experience to the world of live-action filmmaking.
Currently seeking to cast for films on Backstage. (Pending aproval).
One thing I can promise is that (perhaps unlike some student films), if you are cast in any of my films you will get footage back.
We are based in sunny England, in the North East. Making use of the modern fast internet, and prevalence of cameras, we are experimenting with remote casting and filming to create what we call `film collages'. Using techniques from animation and 3D visualisation to bring many elements from around the world into one film. A story can be told in many ways.
About the name, "Worldsheet Films". Any physics afficionados amongst you will know that this comes from the theory of superstrings. It describes interactions in time - which is what films are - so in that sense it is apt.
Nerdy facts: As a director, I shoot on mainly on the Panasonic GH2 DSLR, 25mm f/1.7 lens, 25fps, 1/50, 1080p. Edit in various tools such as Davinci Resolve, Blender, and whatever it takes to get the best results.
